Long County, GA high school teacher wins software at national event

Berwyn, PA, February 1, 2019 – Beth Gordon of Long County High School, Ludowici, GA, was the winner of a one-year software site license for her entire school at the Designing and Implementing Quality Work-Based Learning Systems National Conference in Savannah on September 25. Job Ready Career Skills, a curriculum developed by Career Solutions Publishing, prepares students by teaching the employability and soft skills employers say are essential for entry-level and long-term career success.

Mrs. Gordon, the Work-Based Learning Coordinator for Long County Schools, is responsible for supervising 57 students employed with local companies, including Long County Public Library, Coastal Manor, and the Long County School System. She believes, “an on-the-job experience is essential for understanding the challenges and opportunities of employment in today’s technological world. Whether students are headed for college or training of another type before beginning a career, Long County High School takes pride in providing rich, work-based learning that will enhance the student’s future success.” The Job Ready Career Skills software will be used in each of the Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education classes to help all Long County High School students develop employability skills that will help them in their future careers.
